Sammy Allen has been named the Lone Star Conference Men’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for the second straight week, the conference announced Monday afternoon(Jan. 23).
Allen led the Falcons in rebounding once again this weekend, grabbing 10 rebounds against Texas A&M- Commerce and ending with 11 boards against Tarleton State in a pair of road victories. UTPB held the teams to a combined 36 percent shooting from the field and to just 62.5 points per game as both opponents scored season lows. He added eight points and one steal in each contest.
Allen ranks second in the Lone Star Conference with 10.4 rebounds per game and is averaging 12.5 rebounds and 8.8 points during UTPB’s four-game win streak.
UTPB is back on the road this week, taking on Western New Mexico Thursday night at 8:45 p.m.

Allen led the Falcons on the glass in a pair of wins over Texas A&M-Kingsville and Angelo State. The junior forward averaged 14.5 rebounds a game, including 19 boards in the one-point win over Angelo State. Allen added 10 points in the victory over the Rams. He recorded a game-high 10 rebounds and nine points versus TAMUK. Allen also had three steals and one block for the week.
