After a tough loss against West Texas A&M, UT Permian Basin rebounded with a win against Dallas Baptist University (DBU) to extend its record to 10-2. The final score was 75-63.

Even after only scoring 75 points, UTPB remains the top scoring team in the Lone Star Conference. Coach Newman’s team averages 96.1 points per game, six points higher (89.7) than its closer competitor Texas A&M-Commerce.

The low scoring game was due to the zone defense presented by DBU. After taking an early lead, UTPB took its time to develop its offense and was happy to run down the clock. DBU kept its strategy until the end.

Daeshon Francis, second top scorer in the Conference, ended with a team high 17 points and 2 assists. Johnnie Lacy ended with, a team-high, 5 assists.

With this win, UTPB ends the year with a 10-2 record hoping to get back in the play for playoffs in their match against Conference rival Cameron on January 5 in Lawton, Oklahoma.
