From 11 a.m-3 p.m. on both Nov. 8 and 9, The University of Texas of the Permian Basin’s Student Senate is asking students to donate blood in the Student Activity Center (SAC) for the United Blood Services. The United Blood Services state that “Donating blood is safe, it’s simple, and it saves lives. Most donors find it a painless and heart-warming experience.”  They also state that donors must be at least 16 years of age, and at least weigh 110 pounds.  If you are a minor you would have to fill out a minor’s form, and most likely receive a signature from your legal guardian. The United Blood Services state that “Every blood donation begins with an interview and a brief medical exam.” The interviewer asks about your personal medical history and other things, but you can speed this process up if you fill out the interview online on their webpage. The blood drive is for a good cause and it’s a quick and easy way to give back to the community and to people in need.  To make an appointment you can go to http://www.unitedbloodservices.org/.
