Dr. Myra Salcedo
Myra Salcedo, Ph.D., is a full-time instructor and advisor for the Mesa Journal online news and its social media sources. Prior to completing her doctorate in English/Rhetoric and Composition at the University of Texas at Arlington, she served as public information officer for The University of Texas of the Permian Basin for seven years. She also worked in various capacities for the Midland-Reporter Telegram for fourteen years where she won numerous regional, state, and national awards. Her written works have been published in Texas Monthly magazine, the San Franciso Examiner, and the Boston Globe. Her career began as a journalist for the Mesa Journal as an undergraduate student. She has served as news and debate judge for University Interscholastic League (UIL) competitions and as a judge for literary magazines at Midland College, UT Arlington, and UT Permian Basin.
